“Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.” ~ Samuel Johnson
Anyone who knows me knows that I am constantly obsessing over London – the exquisite architecture, the wonderful walks, the scrumptious food, the oh-so-fun pubs and that certain tingling of excitement that hangs in the air. Try as I might, I don’t think I can be as eloquent as the great Mr. Johnson when it comes to describing this majestic city.
So, I’ll just let my Instagram shots do the talking.
My first morning in London. I stood looking out my bedroom window in Ealing for a good 10 minutes. Hopefully, the neighbours across the street didn’t think I was spying on them.
Hanging out at the park in Chiswick. Such a lovely little part of London and I got a personal tour of my friend’s favourite shops, to boot (pun intended)
The Tube! I can’t remember which station this was, but it was the longest escalator I had ever been on. Sliding down would have been fun, but I am no James Bond. Also, I am pretty sure I would end up with a few broken bones and pride out the window.
This lovely garden was my view everyday for breakfast. How can it even get better than this? I think that cat was trying to figure out who I was and why I did not give her some of my bread. Sorry, cat. Meow.
Ahhh! The Tower Bridge. It just isn’t London until you’ve taken a shot of this iconic fixture of the London landscape.
I think I stopped one too many times to marvel at the view around me. Can you really blame me?
Tower Bridge walk (and shoe selfie). Mission accomplished!
Did I say how much I love this garden?
I am a huge fan of the movie Once. So, imagine my surprise when the musical was playing at the Phoenix Theatre. Needless to say, it was a magical (and rather teary) night.
Love, love, love Camden. Some people may find it a bit kitschy, but I love the energy of it. And I love it more for letting me indulge in some spicy Thai food when it got cold.
Camden makes for great street scenes. You just can’t go wrong here with all the fashionable people and interesting stores.
Come to think of it, I now wish I tried out Hong Kong Bang Bang Chicken. The name alone should warrant a visit.
Covent Garden was such good fun. Having tea at Jamie Oliver’s Union Jacks was an added bonus. A must-try!
The mighty St. Paul’s Cathedral looks down on me as I head off for some tea and people watching. So majestic!
Some giggling action on the pavements of Camden. Have I mentioned how much I love this place?
The iconic Queen Victoria Memorial situated right in front of Buckingham Palace. A great place to take a breather and immerse yourself in the greatness of London.
There were so many places in London that I wasn’t able to get to. And many roads I have yet to walk on. That fact alone excites me about this brilliant city – that I have so much more to discover. I can’t wait to go back and get lost in the streets of London and to take in this ever evolving metropolis. What would this amazing city be like the second time around? Hopefully, I’ll be able to find that out someday soon. Until then, London. Be. Majestic.
Your photos have made me miss London a lot! It’s truly an amazing city, I may go again next year, for Comic Con 🙂
