“Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.” ~ Samuel Johnson
Anyone who knows me knows that I am constantly obsessing over London – the exquisite architecture, the wonderful walks, the scrumptious food, the oh-so-fun pubs and that certain tingling of excitement that hangs in the air. Try as I might, I don’t think I can be as eloquent as the great Mr. Johnson when it comes to describing this majestic city.
So, I’ll just let my Instagram shots do the talking.
My first morning in London. I stood looking out my bedroom window in Ealing for a good 10 minutes. Hopefully, the neighbours across the street didn’t think I was spying on them.
The Tube! I can’t remember which station this was, but it was the longest escalator I had ever been on. Sliding down would have been fun, but I am no James Bond. Also, I am pretty sure I would end up with a few broken bones and pride out the window.
This lovely garden was my view everyday for breakfast. How can it even get better than this? I think that cat was trying to figure out who I was and why I did not give her some of my bread. Sorry, cat. Meow.
I am a huge fan of the movie Once. So, imagine my surprise when the musical was playing at the Phoenix Theatre. Needless to say, it was a magical (and rather teary) night.
Covent Garden was such good fun. Having tea at Jamie Oliver’s Union Jacks was an added bonus. A must-try!
There were so many places in London that I wasn’t able to get to. And many roads I have yet to walk on. That fact alone excites me about this brilliant city – that I have so much more to discover. I can’t wait to go back and get lost in the streets of London and to take in this ever evolving metropolis. What would this amazing city be like the second time around? Hopefully, I’ll be able to find that out someday soon. Until then, London. Be. Majestic.
